Forehead Lines
About forehead lines at HoneMD
Forehead lines are the horizontal creases that run across your forehead when you raise your eyebrows - and over time, they become visible even at rest. They're caused by repeated contraction of the frontalis muscle, the broad muscle that lifts your brows and creates expression across the upper face.
For most clients, forehead lines are the first area they treat with neurotoxin - and the most common reason for a first-time tox appointment. The forehead is where aging shows up earliest because the frontalis is one of the most active muscles on the face, contracting hundreds of times per day during conversation, concentration, and emotional expression.
At HoneMD - serving Torrance and Huntington Beach - we treat forehead lines with precisely placed neurotoxin to relax the frontalis and smooth the skin without eliminating your ability to express. The goal is never a frozen forehead. It's a forehead that moves naturally but doesn't crease deeply. Undetectable by design.
Who this treatment is for
- You see horizontal lines across your forehead even when your face is relaxed
- You're in your late 20s or early 30s and want preventive tox before lines etch into the skin
- You've noticed your forehead creases deepening year over year and want to slow the progression
- You want a smoother, more rested appearance without looking "done" or frozen
- You're starting an upper-face plan and want the area that delivers the biggest visual change first
Why forehead treatment requires the most precision
The forehead is the most technically demanding area for neurotoxin - and it's where bad tox is most visible. The frontalis is the only muscle that lifts your brows. Over-relax it and brows drop into a heavy, hooded look. Under-treat and the lines barely change. Place product unevenly and one brow sits higher than the other.
This is why so many first-time clients who got forehead tox elsewhere come to HoneMD for correction. The complaints we hear: "my brows feel heavy," "I look surprised on one side," "my forehead is smooth but I lost my expression." All placement and dosing issues - not the product.
Our nurse-practitioner injectors evaluate the interaction between your frontalis, corrugator (frown line muscle), and orbicularis (eye muscle) before placing a single unit. We assess whether your forehead should be treated alone or in combination with frown lines and crow's feet to maintain muscular balance across the upper face. This assessment takes 5 minutes and prevents every common forehead tox complaint.
Pricing
From $99 for new clients. Most clients need 10–20 units depending on muscle strength and line depth. Many combine forehead with frown lines (glabella) in the same visit - combined treatment typically uses 20–40 units total. We confirm units and price before treatment begins. Know the plan. What to expect
Consultation (10–15 min): we assess the frontalis at full activation and at rest, evaluate brow position and corrugator interaction, and build a dose plan that matches your anatomy.
Treatment (10 min): 4–6 strategic injection points across the forehead with a fine needle. No numbing required. Brief pinches; most clients describe the treatment as easy.
3–7 days: onset of effect. Forehead movement softens.
2 weeks: full effect. Lines smooth. We invite all first-time clients back for a complimentary 2-week assessment to add a few units if needed - we always start conservatively.
Maintenance: 3–4 months. With consistent treatment the frontalis weakens and intervals often extend to 4–5 months after a year of regular care.
FAQ
How many units of tox does the forehead need?
Most clients need 10–20 units. Lighter muscle activity often needs 10–14; stronger movement patterns may need up to 20. We assess this in consultation.
Will forehead tox make me look frozen?
Not when dosed correctly. The frozen look happens when too many units are placed across the entire frontalis. We use conservative, strategic placement - relaxing the muscle enough to smooth lines while preserving natural brow movement and expression.
Can forehead tox cause my brows to drop?
Brow heaviness is the most common side effect of poorly placed forehead tox. It happens when the frontalis is over-relaxed without accounting for brow resting position and corrugator/orbicularis balance. We evaluate this balance before treatment and dose conservatively. If your anatomy suggests risk of brow drop, we recommend a lighter dose with a 2-week follow-up.
Should I get preventive forehead tox?
Yes - preventive tox is one of the most effective strategies for maintaining a smooth forehead long-term. Relaxing the frontalis before deep lines form prevents the repeated creasing that etches permanent wrinkles. Most clients start in their late 20s or early 30s with lower doses (8–12 units) and longer intervals (4–6 months).
Should I treat the forehead alone or combine with other areas?
Treating the forehead alone can cause compensatory movement in the frown lines or bunny lines as surrounding muscles work harder. Most clients get the best, most balanced result treating at least forehead + frown lines together.
How long does forehead tox last?
3–4 months for most clients. Many find that with consistent treatment, the frontalis gradually weakens and results extend to 4–5 months between appointments after a year.
Does it hurt?
Brief pinches with a fine needle. No numbing required. Most clients describe the treatment as easy.
