About cheek filler at HoneMD

Cheek filler is the single most architectural treatment in nonsurgical facial rejuvenation. The cheekbone is the keystone of the midface - when it loses volume (aging, weight loss, genetics), the under-eyes hollow, the nasolabial folds deepen, and the lower face begins to drop. Rebuilding the cheek in the right vector lifts everything above and below it.

At HoneMD - serving Torrance and Huntington Beach - our aesthetic nurse injectors use hyaluronic acid filler placed deep on bone to recreate native cheekbone structure, then layer superficial HA in the cheek apple to restore the soft, lit-from-within fullness of a younger midface. The result is a lifted, sculpted, undetectable look - not a shelf, not chipmunk cheeks. Undetectable by design.

The HoneMD approach

We treat the cheek as a structural problem, not a volume problem. That means assessment first: how much projection has been lost on the zygomatic arch, how the midface fat compartments have descended, whether the cheek apple needs subtle support or full reconstruction. We dose conservatively - typically 1–2 syringes for a first-time correction, with the option to layer at follow-up rather than overfill in one session.

We use Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, and Restylane Contour - high-lift, high-G' hyaluronic acid fillers FDA-approved for cheek augmentation and midface volume correction - plus Juvederm Volux where a rebuild needs its heavier structural profile. Selection depends on tissue thickness, projection goal, and how reactive your tissue is to lift vs. spread.

Benefits

  • Restores midface volume lost to aging, weight loss, or genetic flat cheekbones
  • Lifts the lower face by supporting the structural foundation above it
  • Softens nasolabial folds and marionette lines without injecting them directly
  • Reduces under-eye hollowness by repositioning the midface fat pad
  • Sculpts cheekbone definition for a more contoured profile
  • Immediate results - visible at the appointment, refined over 2 weeks as the filler integrates
  • Long-lasting - 18 to 24 months for most filler families used here

Products we use

Juvederm Voluma XC - the original FDA-approved midface filler. High G', strong projection, excellent for rebuilding zygomatic arch structure. Lasts up to 2 years on bone.

Juvederm Volux XC - Voluma's heavier sibling. Used for the highest-projection structural rebuilds and angular definition.

Restylane Lyft - the original lifting HA. Slightly softer than Voluma, ideal for tissue that lifts well with less mass.

Restylane Contour - newer-generation Lyft. Designed to flex with facial expression, more natural-feeling in animated patients.

What to expect

Consultation (15 min): we assess your midface anatomy in repose and animation, discuss projection goals, and recommend a syringe count and product. Most cheek treatments are 1–2 syringes for first-time correction.

Treatment (30–45 min): topical numbing, then injection on bone (deep) and in the superficial fat pad (volume). Most patients describe a brief pressure rather than pain. Filler products contain lidocaine.

Immediately after: visible lift and projection. Mild swelling for 24–72 hours. Bruising possible at injection points - minimized with our cannula-where-possible technique.

2 weeks: final integration. Tissue settles around the filler. This is when the result "locks in."

Maintenance: 12–24 months for most patients. Top-up syringes maintain the architecture without rebuilding from scratch.

Pricing

$525 per syringe for first-time clients. Pricing is per syringe - most first-time cheek treatments use 1–2 syringes; patients with significant volume loss may need 3+ syringes built over multiple sessions. We never sell volume you don't need. Know the plan. Know the price.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Most first-time clients need 1–2 syringes for noticeable correction. Patients with significant midface volume loss may build to 3–4 syringes over 2–3 sessions. We dose conservatively to avoid the "overfilled" look.
No - that's the entire point of how we dose cheek filler. We rebuild structure that was already there. The result is a lifted, refreshed midface, not a wider face or a visible shelf.
12–24 months depending on the product, your metabolism, and how much animation your face does. Voluma and Volux on bone often last toward the longer end.
Topical numbing is applied first, and all the fillers we use contain lidocaine. Most patients describe brief pressure rather than sharp pain.
Possible but minimized. We use cannula technique where appropriate, which reduces bruise risk significantly compared to needle-only technique. Plan 7–10 days of avoidance from alcohol, NSAIDs, and fish oil before treatment.
Often, yes - and it's typically the safer first move. By restoring midface projection, the under-eye fat pad repositions and the tear trough softens. Many patients need only cheek filler, not direct under-eye treatment.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible with hyaluronidase. We've never had a client request this - but the option exists, which is part of why HA is the safest filler category.
Cheek filler is nonsurgical, immediate, reversible, and lasts 1–2 years. Surgical cheek augmentation (implants) is permanent, requires anesthesia and downtime, and is significantly more expensive. Filler is the modern entry point - surgery becomes optional only when filler can no longer hold structure.
