Chin Filler
About chin filler at HoneMD
Chin filler is the highest-leverage profile treatment in nonsurgical aesthetics. A retruded or under-projected chin shortens the lower face, blunts the jawline, and can make even a thin person look like they have a double chin. Adding the right volume in the right vector - forward, down, or both - lengthens the face, sharpens the profile, and pulls the entire lower third into balance.
At HoneMD - serving Torrance and Huntington Beach - our aesthetic nurse injectors specialize in profile correction with high-G' hyaluronic acid filler. The goal is structure, not bulk. We treat chin and jawline as one continuous architectural line, building only what your underlying skeleton calls for. The result is a snatched, defined lower face that looks like it was always yours. Undetectable by design.
The HoneMD approach
We assess from the side first. Profile photography reveals what front-on consultation misses: how far the chin sits behind the lower lip, whether the mentolabial sulcus needs softening, and how the chin transitions into the jawline. Then we build a syringe plan that matches projection goal to facial proportions.
We use Juvederm Volux, Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Defyne, and Restylane Eyelight - the high-projection HA fillers FDA-cleared for chin and jawline augmentation. Volux is our default for first-time projection rebuilds; softer products layer for finishing.
Benefits
- Adds projection to a recessed or under-developed chin
- Lengthens the lower face for a more balanced profile
- Sharpens the chin-to-jawline transition
- Reduces the appearance of a double chin without treating the submental area directly
- Softens chin dimpling and cleft chins where requested
- Pairs with jawline filler for full lower-face contouring
- Immediate, reversible, lasts 12–24 months
Products we use
Juvederm Volux XC - highest G' in the Juvederm family. FDA-cleared specifically for jawline and chin improvement. Sharp, structural projection.
Juvederm Voluma XC - slightly softer than Volux, used when softer projection or feathering into surrounding tissue is needed.
Restylane Defyne - the dynamic, flex-with-movement HA. Most natural-looking chin filler for very animated patients.
What to expect
Consultation (15 min): we photograph and assess your profile, identify projection deficit, and recommend a syringe count and product family. Most first-time chin treatments use 1–2 syringes.
Treatment (30–45 min): topical numbing, then injection on the mentum (chin bone) and into the soft tissue overlay. Filler products contain lidocaine. Most patients describe firm pressure, not pain.
Immediately after: visible projection. Mild swelling for 24–72 hours. Bruising possible but minimized with cannula technique.
2 weeks: final integration. Tissue settles, projection locks in, and the contour becomes its final shape.
Maintenance: 12–24 months. Top-up syringes refresh projection without rebuilding from zero.
Pricing
$649 per syringe. Most first-time chin treatments use 1–2 syringes depending on starting projection and goal. We never sell volume you don't need. Know the plan. Know the price.
FAQ
How many syringes will I need?
Most first-time clients need 1–2 syringes for visible profile correction. Patients building from a significantly recessed chin may need 3 syringes layered over 2 sessions.
Will chin filler help my double chin?
Often, yes. A retruded chin is a common cause of "double chin" appearance even in thin people - there's no skeletal hook for the submental tissue to drape over. Adding projection pulls the submental skin taut and sharpens the chin-to-neck angle. Direct submental fat reduction (Kybella) is a separate option if there's actual fat.
How long does chin filler last?
12–24 months. High-G' products like Volux on bone tend toward the longer end.
Will it look like I had work done?
Not with the dosing we use. Chin filler done well looks like a stronger jawline, not a bigger chin. The clue that someone has had bad chin filler is a visible "witch chin" or downward point - we avoid that geometry entirely.
Can I dissolve it?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid is reversible with hyaluronidase.
Does it hurt?
Topical numbing first, lidocaine in all filler products. Most patients describe firm pressure on the bone, not sharp pain.
Does chin filler pair with jawline filler?
Yes - it's the most common combination we do. Chin filler defines the front of the lower face; jawline filler defines the line back to the angle. Treating both creates a continuous, sculpted contour.
What's the difference between chin filler and a chin implant?
Chin filler is nonsurgical, immediate, reversible, lasts 1–2 years, and costs a fraction of surgery. A chin implant is permanent and requires anesthesia and downtime. Filler is the modern first move; surgery becomes optional only after filler proves the geometry works.
